 "The African Sun" by Michael Sheridan Stone is an eclectic and evocative collection of poems linked by one common element, the author's abiding love for Africa. Mike is an ex Zimbabwean and studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Staying with the Middletons, he has become an annual visitor to Barrydale as he loves the village, the countryside and the people. In fact, one of his poems is called "The Pumpkin or The Cow." He is a keen birdwatcher and hiker and clearly is in his element here. On his last visit Mike donated a copy of his "The African Sun" to the Barrydale library - take time to read it as you will find that many of his poems will touch you deeply.
